Dominant groups

Analysis of the non-English speaking population in the City of Ryde in 2021 compared to the total population in the City of Ryde shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 14.3% of the non-English speaking population was aged between 0 and 14, and 13.8% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 16.2% and 15.1% respectively for the total population in the City of Ryde.

The major differences between the age groups of the non-English speaking population in the City of Ryde and the total population in the City of Ryde were:

  • A larger percentage of people aged 35 to 39 (11.7% compared to 9.2%)
  • A larger percentage of people aged 30 to 34 (12.4% compared to 9.9%)
