Hours worked relates to the prevalence of particular types of jobs and particular industries. Some industries are more likely to be part-time. Australia-wide, females are more likely than males to work part-time (<35 hours per week). Males are more likely to work full time and longer hours in paid employment.
The extent to which this varies in MidCoast Council area can show key differences between sexes and changes in traditional gender roles, as well as the availability of different types of employment.

Dominant groups
Analysis of the hours worked by the female workforce in MidCoast Council area in 2021 compared to MidCoast Council area - Total population shows that there was a higher proportion who worked part-time (34 hours or less) and a lower proportion who worked full-time (35 hours or more).
Overall, 58.7% of the female workforce worked part-time (34 hours or less) and 39.0% worked full-time (35 hours or more), compared with 46.3% and 51.1% respectively for MidCoast Council area - Total population.
The major differences between the hours worked by females in MidCoast Council area and MidCoast Council area - Total population were:
