Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Hope Island in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (764 people or 11.5%)
  • Construction (757 people or 11.4%)
  • Retail Trade (641 people or 9.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,162 people in total or 32.5% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Gold Coast City employed 15.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.4% in Construction; and 10.4% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Hope Island and Gold Coast City were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in rental, hiring and real estate services (4.8% compared to 2.6%)
