Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the non-English speaking resident population in Tweed Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (532 people or 21.0%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (475 people or 18.7%)
- Labourers (371 people or 14.6%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 1,378 people in total or 54.4% of the employed resident population.
In comparison, the total population in Tweed Shire Council employed 19.4% in Professionals; 14.1% in Community and Personal Service Workers; and 11.0% in Labourers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the non-English speaking population of Tweed Shire and the total population in Tweed Shire Council were:
- A larger percentage of people employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (18.7% compared to 14.1%)
- A larger percentage of people employed as Labourers (14.6% compared to 11.0%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (6.4% compared to 11.5%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Sales Workers (6.2% compared to 9.4%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed non-English speakers in Tweed Shire increased by 1,274 between 2011 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of non-English speaking residents between 2011 and 2021 in Tweed Shire were for those employed as:
- Community and Personal Service Workers (+290 persons)
- Professionals (+287 persons)
- Technicians and Trades Workers (+179 persons)
- Labourers (+175 persons)
