Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Tweed Shire in 2021 compared to Regional NSW shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 23.0% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 11.1% were one-parent families, compared with 24.8% and 10.9% respectively for Regional NSW.

There were a similar proportion of lone person households and a similar proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 26.6% compared to 26.1% in Regional NSW while the proportion of couples without children was 27.5% compared to 27.7% in Regional NSW.

The number of households in Tweed Shire increased by 2,182 between 2016 and 2021.
