Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in South West Queensland ROC in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (1,762 males or 29.4%)
  • Construction (654 males or 10.9%)
  • Public Administration and Safety (539 males or 9.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,955 males in total or 49.4% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Regional QLD employed 5.7% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 16.2% in Construction; and 6.4% in Public Administration and Safety.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of South West Queensland ROC and Regional QLD were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (29.4% compared to 5.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in construction (10.9% compared to 16.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (1.5% compared to 4.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (3.6% compared to 6.7%)
