Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in South West Queensland ROC in 2021 compared to Regional QLD shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 22.4% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 7.9% were one-parent families, compared with 25.2% and 10.8% respectively for Regional QLD.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 25.9% compared to 23.4% in Regional QLD while the proportion of couples without children was 23.1% compared to 27.3% in Regional QLD.

Emerging groups

The number of households in South West Queensland ROC increased by 516 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in family/household types in South West Queensland ROC between 2016 and 2021 were:
