Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in RDA Murraylands and Riverland region in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (3,366 females or 23.6%)
  • Retail Trade (1,702 females or 11.9%)
  • Education and Training (1,619 females or 11.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 6,687 females in total or 46.9% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, the Coorong District Council area employed 19.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.4% in Retail Trade; and 12.4% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of the RDA Murraylands and Riverland region and the Coorong District Council area were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (23.6% compared to 19.7%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in administrative and support services (4.7% compared to 3.1%)
