Method of travel to work

On Census day 2021 in the RDA Murraylands and Riverland region, 71.9% of females travelled to work in a private car, 0.4% took public transport and 4.3% rode a bike or walked. 9.2% worked at home.

Dominant groups

In 2021, there were 55 females who caught public transport to work (train, bus, tram or ferry) in RDA Murraylands and Riverland region, compared with 10,249 who drove in private vehicles (car – as driver, car – as passenger, motorbike, or truck).

Analysis of the method of travel to work of the female residents in the RDA Murraylands and Riverland region in 2021, compared to the Coorong District Council area, shows that 0.4% used public transport, while 71.9% used a private vehicle, compared with 0.0% and 60.7% respectively in the Coorong District Council area.

The major differences in females between the method of travel to work of the RDA Murraylands and Riverland region and the Coorong District Council area were:

  • A larger percentage of females who travelled by car (as driver) (65.9% compared to 57.2%)
  • A larger percentage of females who travelled by car (as a passenger) (6.0% compared to 3.5%)
