Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in South West Queensland ROC in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Managers (2,648 people or 22.7%)
- Labourers (1,744 people or 14.9%)
- Professionals (1,494 people or 12.8%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 5,886 people in total or 50.4% of the employed resident population.
In comparison, Western Downs Regional Council area employed 19.2% in Managers; 14.9% in Labourers; and 11.5% in Professionals.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of South West Queensland ROC and Western Downs Regional Council area were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed as Managers (22.7% compared to 19.2%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed as Professionals (12.8% compared to 11.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (12.3% compared to 15.4%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (8.2% compared to 9.5%)

The largest changes in the occupations of residents between 2016 and 2021 in South West Queensland ROC were for those employed as:
