When viewed with other indicators, such as Educational Qualifications and Individual Income, Occupation is a key measure for evaluating North Parramatta's socio-economic status and skill base.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in North Parramatta in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (917 males or 32.2%)
- Managers (404 males or 14.2%)
- Technicians and Trades Workers (376 males or 13.2%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 1,697 males in total or 59.5% of the employed male resident population.
In comparison, Eastwood employed 36.1% in Professionals; 16.6% in Managers; and 13.4% in Technicians and Trades Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of North Parramatta and Eastwood were:
- A larger percentage of males employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (9.5% compared to 5.6%)
- A larger percentage of males employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (10.1% compared to 8.0%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed as Professionals (32.2% compared to 36.1%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed as Managers (14.2% compared to 16.6%)

The number of employed males in North Parramatta decreased by 422 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of male residents between 2016 and 2021 in North Parramatta were for those employed as:
- Technicians and Trades Workers (-169 males)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (-61 males)
- Sales Workers (-59 males)
