Dominant groups
Analysis of the year of arrival for the overseas born Gujarati speaking population of the City of Parramatta in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who arrived before 2010, and a larger proportion of recent overseas arrivals (those who arrived between 2016 and 2021).
Overall, 37.4% of the overseas born Gujarati speaking population arrived before 2010, and 43.8% arrived during or after 2016, compared with 56.1% and 24.7% respectively for Greater Sydney.
The major differences between the year of arrival data of the Gujarati speaking population of the City of Parramatta and Greater Sydney were:
- A larger percentage of arrivals between 2016 to Aug 2021 (43.8% compared to 24.7%)
- A smaller percentage of arrivals between 2001 to 2010 (33.0% compared to 46.3%)
