The Age Structure of the non-English speaking population in the City of Parramatta provides key insights into the level of demand for age based services and facilities such as child care, and language services. Non-English speaking populations may have a quite different age profile to the general population, for instance in a student area, they are likely to be younger, however an area which received a lot of post-war migration may have an older non-English speaking population, and perhaps many second-generation speakers.

Dominant groups
Analysis of the Chinese languages speaking population in the City of Parramatta in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 16.6% of the Chinese languages speaking population was aged between 0 and 14, and 13.1% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 14.1% and 15.0% respectively for Greater Sydney.
The major differences between the age groups of the Chinese languages speaking population in the City of Parramatta and Greater Sydney were:
- A larger percentage of people aged 30 to 34 (11.5% compared to 10.0%)
- A larger percentage of people aged 35 to 39 (10.9% compared to 9.6%)
- A larger percentage of people aged 5 to 9 (6.6% compared to 5.5%)
- A smaller percentage of people aged 20 to 24 (5.4% compared to 6.9%)
Emerging groups
From 2016 to 2021, City of Parramatta's Chinese languages speaking population increased by 9,750 people (24.7%). This represents an average annual population change of 4.51% per year over the period.
The largest changes in the age groups of the Chinese languages speaking population in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 35 to 39 (+2,380 persons)
- 65 to 69 (+1,259 persons)
- 30 to 34 (+1,254 persons)
- 5 to 9 (+1,200 persons)
