Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Parramatta in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (3,360 people or 20.9%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,993 people or 12.4%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (1,612 people or 10.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 6,965 people in total or 43.2% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Rydalmere employed 8.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 12.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 5.7% in Financial and Insurance Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Parramatta and Rydalmere were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (20.9% compared to 8.9%)
