Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Travancore in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (94 males or 14.2%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (64 males or 9.6%)
  • Construction (63 males or 9.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 221 males in total or 33.3% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Niddrie employed 8.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 4.6% in Accommodation and Food Services; and 20.5% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Travancore and Niddrie were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (14.2% compared to 8.9%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (9.6% compared to 4.6%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in financial and insurance services (8.6% compared to 5.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in construction (9.5% compared to 20.5%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed males in Travancore decreased by 17 between 2016 and 2021.

There were no major differences in Travancore between 2016 and 2021.
