Dominant groups

Analysis of the service age groups of Division 07 in 2021 compared to Division 08 shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) as well as a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (60+ years).

Overall, 18.9% of the population was aged between 0 and 17, and 24.9% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 20.6% and 27.8% respectively for Division 08.

The major differences between the age structure of Division 07 and Division 08 were:

  • A larger percentage of 'Tertiary education & independence' (9.5% compared to 7.6%)
  • A larger percentage of 'Young workforce' (13.4% compared to 11.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of 'Seniors' (11.5% compared to 13.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of 'Frail aged' (2.2% compared to 3.1%)

Emerging groups

From 2016 to 2021, Division 07's population increased by 2,461 people (5.7%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.11% per year over the period.

The largest changes in the age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • Seniors (70 to 84) (+1,336 people)
  • Tertiary education and independence (18 to 24) (-770 people)
  • Young workforce (25 to 34) (+430 people)
  • Empty nesters and retirees (60 to 69) (+404 people)
