Location and boundaries

Pacific Pines - Gaven is bounded by Kopps Road, Binstead Way, Hervey Street and Universal Street in the north, the Pacific Motorway in the east, Matilda Road, the locality of Nerang and Nerang National Park in the south, and Roberts Drive, Greenway Boulevard, Saltwater Creek and the locality of Maudsland in the west.

Name origin

Pacific Pines is named for the pine plantation that was once in the area. Gaven is named after the Gaven family, original land holders.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the 1880s, with land used mainly for farming. Significant residential development occurred from the 1970s. Rapid growth took place from the early 1990s. The population almost trebled during the 1990s, with even more rapid development between 2001 and 2011, a result of large numbers of new dwellings being added to the area.
