Dominant groups

Analysis of the qualifications of the population in Division 03 in 2021 compared to Southport - North shows that there was a higher proportion of people holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), as well as a higher proportion of people with no formal qualifications.

Overall, 55.2% of the population aged 15 and over held educational qualifications, and 36.7% had no qualifications, compared with 52.5% and 34.2% respectively for Southport - North.

The major differences between qualifications held by the population of Division 03 and Southport - North were:

  • A larger percentage of persons with Vocational qualifications (25.7% compared to 17.0%)
  • A larger percentage of persons with No qualifications (36.7% compared to 34.2%)
  • A larger percentage of persons with Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (12.1% compared to 10.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons with Bachelor or Higher degrees (17.3% compared to 24.6%)

The largest changes in the qualifications of the population in Division 03 between 2016 and 2021 were in those with:

  • Bachelor or Higher degrees (+2,622 persons)
  • No qualifications (+2,161 persons)
  • Vocational qualifications (+2,127 persons)
  • Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (+1,430 persons)
