Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Palm Beach in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,352 people or 15.7%)
  • Construction (1,142 people or 13.2%)
  • Retail Trade (817 people or 9.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,311 people in total or 38.4% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Coolangatta employed 17.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.2% in Construction; and 8.7% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Palm Beach and Coolangatta were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (13.2% compared to 10.2%)
