More Division 02 female residents worked in health care and social assistance than any other industry in 2021.

Division 02's industry statistics identify the industry sectors in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.

When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Division 02 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,418 females or 22.1%)
  • Education and Training (1,342 females or 12.3%)
  • Retail Trade (1,296 females or 11.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 5,056 females in total or 46.2% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Paradise Point - Hollywell employed 19.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.3% in Education and Training; and 11.2% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Division 02 and Paradise Point - Hollywell were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (22.1% compared to 19.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in rental, hiring and real estate services (3.4% compared to 4.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (6.9% compared to 8.0%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in Division 02 increased by 1,627 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Division 02 were for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+597 females)
  • Education and Training (+259 females)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+155 females)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (+111 females)
