More Division 09 female residents worked in health care and social assistance than any other industry in 2021.

Division 09's industry statistics identify the industry sectors in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.

When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Division 09 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,471 females or 23.0%)
  • Education and Training (1,558 females or 14.5%)
  • Retail Trade (1,310 females or 12.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 5,339 females in total or 49.7% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Oxenford - Maudsland employed 24.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.3% in Education and Training; and 12.6% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Division 09 and Oxenford - Maudsland were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (7.2% compared to 5.5%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (14.5% compared to 13.3%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in accommodation and food services (8.3% compared to 7.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (23.0% compared to 24.7%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in Division 09 increased by 1,209 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Division 09 were for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+500 females)
  • Education and Training (+205 females)
  • Construction (+145 females)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+116 females)
