Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Ashmore in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (714 females or 24.3%)
  • Education and Training (379 females or 12.9%)
  • Retail Trade (319 females or 10.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,412 females in total or 48.1% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Hope Island employed 18.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.6% in Education and Training; and 10.4% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Ashmore and Hope Island were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (24.3% compared to 18.2%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (12.9% compared to 10.6%)
