In 2021, the largest age group in Division 08 was 45 to 49 year olds. The group that changed the most since 2001 was 70 to 74 year olds, increasing by 1,539 people.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the five year age groups of Division 08 in 2021 compared to Division 14 shows that there was a similar proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 16.7% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 21.9% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 16.6% and 20.4% respectively for Division 14.

The major differences between the age structure of Division 08 and Division 14 were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (4.5% compared to 3.6%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (3.0% compared to 2.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 60 to 64 (6.2% compared to 7.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (5.6% compared to 6.3%)

Emerging groups

From 2001 to 2021, Division 08's population increased by 11,387 people (37.6%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.61% per year over the period.

The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2001 and 2021 were in the age groups:

  • 70 to 74 (+1,539 persons)
  • 60 to 64 (+1,392 persons)
  • 65 to 69 (+1,325 persons)
  • 75 to 79 (+1,100 persons)
