Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of Division 08 in 2021 compared to Division 14 shows that there was a similar proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 16.7% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 21.9% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 16.6% and 20.4% respectively for Division 14.
The major differences between the age structure of Division 08 and Division 14 were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (4.5% compared to 3.6%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (3.0% compared to 2.3%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 60 to 64 (6.2% compared to 7.2%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (5.6% compared to 6.3%)
Emerging groups
From 2001 to 2021, Division 08's population increased by 11,387 people (37.6%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.61% per year over the period.
The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2001 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 70 to 74 (+1,539 persons)
- 60 to 64 (+1,392 persons)
- 65 to 69 (+1,325 persons)
- 75 to 79 (+1,100 persons)
