Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of Division 09 in 2021 compared to Sunshine Coast shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 21.5% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 14.7% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 17.4% and 21.7% respectively for Sunshine Coast.
The major differences between the age structure of Division 09 and Sunshine Coast were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 10 to 14 (8.2% compared to 6.5%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (7.5% compared to 5.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (4.3% compared to 5.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (4.6% compared to 6.1%)
Emerging groups
From 2016 to 2021, Division 09's population increased by 3,079 people (7.7%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.49% per year over the period.
The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 70 to 74 (+455 persons)
- 10 to 14 (+342 persons)
- 60 to 64 (+324 persons)
- 15 to 19 (+307 persons)
