Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Western Sydney (LGA) in 2016 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (117,250 people or 11.6%)
  • Retail Trade (103,465 people or 10.2%)
  • Construction (98,056 people or 9.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 318,771 people in total or 31.4% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Hornsby Shire employed 13.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.7% in Retail Trade; and 6.8% in Construction.
