Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Rural South in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (171 females or 22.8%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (145 females or 19.3%)
  • Education and Training (74 females or 9.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 390 females in total or 52.0% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Victoria employed 22.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 1.4% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; and 13.0% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Rural South and Victoria were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (19.3% compared to 1.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (3.9% compared to 7.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in education and training (9.9% compared to 13.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in financial and insurance services (1.1% compared to 4.0%)

The number of employed females in Rural South increased by 128 between 2016 and 2021.
