Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Brighton in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,074 males or 18.6%)
  • Construction (605 males or 10.5%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (529 males or 9.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,208 males in total or 38.3% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, the City of Bayside employed 16.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 12.2% in Construction; and 8.0% in Financial and Insurance Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Brighton and the City of Bayside were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (18.6% compared to 16.9%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (7.5% compared to 6.0%)
