Dominant groups
Analysis of the male five year age groups of Black Rock in 2021 compared to Victoria shows that there was a lower proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 16.9% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 24.5% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 18.8% and 15.7% respectively for Victoria.
The major differences between the male age structure of Black Rock and Victoria were:
- A larger percentage of males aged 65 to 69 (7.4% compared to 4.8%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 25 to 29 (2.9% compared to 7.5%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 30 to 34 (3.2% compared to 7.6%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 35 to 39 (4.0% compared to 7.5%)
Emerging groups
From 2006 to 2021, Black Rock's male population increased by 305 people (11.1%). This represents an average annual population change of 0.7% per year over the period.
The largest changes in male age structure in this area between 2006 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 65 to 69 (+115 males)
- 70 to 74 (+92 males)
- 35 to 39 (-65 males)
