The size of the City of Ballarat's labour force in low income households in 2021 was 3,249, of which 1,580 were employed part-time and 504 were full time workers.
Analysis of the employment status of people in low income households (as a percentage of the labour force) in the City of Ballarat in 2021 compared to Regional VIC shows that there was a lower proportion of people in low income households in employment, and a higher proportion unemployed. Overall, 74.1% of the labour force was employed, and 25.9% unemployed, compared with 79.0% and 21.0% respectively for Regional VIC.
Analysis of the labour force participation rate of people in low income households in the City of Ballarat in 2021 shows that there was a higher proportion in the labour force (24.0%) compared with Regional VIC (23.2%).
Emerging groups
Between 2016 and 2021, the number of people in low income households employed in the City of Ballarat showed a decrease of 1,694, and the number unemployed showed a decrease of 58.
