Analysis of the service age groups of Waverley Council Area in 2021 compared to Woollahra Municipal Council area shows that there was a similar proportion of people in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (60+ years).
Overall, 18.5% of the population was aged between 0 and 17, and 17.1% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 18.1% and 26.4% respectively for Woollahra Municipal Council area.
The major differences between the age structure of Waverley Council Area and Woollahra Municipal Council area were:
- A larger percentage of 'Young workforce' (23.5% compared to 15.7%)
- A larger percentage of 'Parents and homebuilders' (23.9% compared to 19.9%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Seniors' (7.6% compared to 12.8%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Empty nesters and retirees' (7.5% compared to 10.4%)
