Analysis of the service age groups of Bayside Council area in 2021 compared to Woollahra Municipal Council area shows that there was a similar proportion of people in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) and a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (60+ years).
Overall, 17.7% of the population was aged between 0 and 17, and 19.4% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 18.0% and 26.5% respectively for Woollahra Municipal Council area.
The major differences between the age structure of Bayside Council area and Woollahra Municipal Council area were:
- A larger percentage of 'Young workforce' (20.9% compared to 15.8%)
- A larger percentage of 'Tertiary education & independence' (9.7% compared to 7.0%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Seniors' (8.6% compared to 12.9%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Empty nesters and retirees' (8.7% compared to 10.4%)
