Analysis of the service age groups of SSROC region in 2021 compared to Waverley Council Area shows that there was a similar proportion of people in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) and a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (60+ years).
Overall, 18.5% of the population was aged between 0 and 17, and 20.2% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 18.5% and 17.1% respectively for Waverley Council Area.
The major differences between the age structure of SSROC region and Waverley Council Area were:
- A larger percentage of 'Tertiary education & independence' (9.2% compared to 6.4%)
- A larger percentage of 'Empty nesters and retirees' (9.4% compared to 7.5%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Young workforce' (18.8% compared to 23.5%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Parents and homebuilders' (21.5% compared to 23.9%)
