Analysis of the service age groups of the City of Canterbury Bankstown in 2021 compared to Bayside Council area shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) as well as a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (60+ years).
Overall, 23.5% of the population was aged between 0 and 17, and 20.4% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 17.7% and 19.5% respectively for Bayside Council area.
The major differences between the age structure of the City of Canterbury Bankstown and Bayside Council area were:
- A larger percentage of 'Primary schoolers' (9.3% compared to 6.7%)
- A larger percentage of 'Secondary schoolers' (7.6% compared to 5.3%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Young workforce' (14.9% compared to 20.9%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Parents and homebuilders' (20.0% compared to 21.3%)
