An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Inner West Council area in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (41,893 people or 41.0%)
- Managers (19,078 people or 18.7%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (11,963 people or 11.7%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 72,934 people in total or 71.4% of the employed resident population.
In comparison, Sutherland Shire employed 26.3% in Professionals; 17.1% in Managers; and 15.6% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Inner West Council area and Sutherland Shire were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed as Professionals (41.0% compared to 26.3%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (7.6% compared to 13.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (11.7% compared to 15.6%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (7.3% compared to 10.0%)
