An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in SSROC region in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (110,790 people or 12.9%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (106,462 people or 12.4%)
- Education and Training (74,744 people or 8.7%)
In combination, these three industries employed 291,996 people in total or 34.0% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Australia employed 7.8% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 14.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 8.8% in Education and Training.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of SSROC region and Australia were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (12.9% compared to 7.8%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in financial and insurance services (7.9% compared to 3.7%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (0.2% compared to 2.3%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (12.4% compared to 14.5%)
