Analysis of individual income levels in the City of Canterbury Bankstown in 2021 compared to Waverley Council Area shows that there was a lower proportion of people earning a high income (those earning $2,000 per week or more) and a higher proportion of low income people (those earning less than $500 per week).
Overall, 7.4% of the population earned a high income, and 39.6% earned a low income, compared with 31.6% and 18.4% respectively for Waverley Council Area.
The major differences between the City of Canterbury Bankstown's individual incomes and Waverley Council Area's individual incomes were:
- A larger percentage of persons who earned Negative Income/ Nil income (13.3% compared to 6.9%)
- A larger percentage of persons who earned $300 - $399 (9.5% compared to 3.3%)
- A smaller percentage of persons who earned $3,500 or more (1.4% compared to 13.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons who earned $2,000 - $2,999 (5.0% compared to 13.1%)
