Analysis of the five year age groups of the City of Canterbury Bankstown in 2021 compared to Strathfield Council shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 19.8% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 15.0% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 14.8% and 12.1% respectively for Strathfield Council.
The major differences between the age structure of the City of Canterbury Bankstown and Strathfield Council were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 10 to 14 (6.5% compared to 4.6%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (7.5% compared to 12.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 30 to 34 (7.5% compared to 11.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 20 to 24 (6.8% compared to 10.1%)
