Analysis of the five year age groups of Burwood Council Area in 2021 compared to Strathfield Council shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 12.0% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 15.2% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 15.0% and 12.0% respectively for Strathfield Council.
The major differences between the age structure of Burwood Council Area and Strathfield Council were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 20 to 24 (12.5% compared to 10.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 30 to 34 (9.8% compared to 11.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 35 to 39 (7.1% compared to 8.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 0 to 4 (3.9% compared to 5.2%)
