Analysis of the five year age groups of Bayside Council area in 2021 compared to the City of Canterbury Bankstown shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) and a similar proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 15.1% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 14.8% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 19.8% and 15.0% respectively for the City of Canterbury Bankstown.
The major differences between the age structure of Bayside Council area and the City of Canterbury Bankstown were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 30 to 34 (10.5% compared to 7.5%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (10.4% compared to 7.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 10 to 14 (4.5% compared to 6.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (4.9% compared to 6.7%)
