Analysis of the five year age groups of Georges River Council area in 2021 compared to Burwood Council Area shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a higher proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 15.9% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 17.3% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 11.9% and 15.3% respectively for Burwood Council Area.
The major differences between the age structure of Georges River Council area and Burwood Council Area were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (5.5% compared to 4.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 20 to 24 (7.6% compared to 12.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (8.0% compared to 12.1%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 30 to 34 (7.5% compared to 9.7%)
