In 2021, there were 24,238 separate houses in the area, 12,981 medium density dwellings, and 36,678 high density dwellings.
Analysis of the types of dwellings in Bayside Council area in 2021 shows that 32.4% of all dwellings were separate houses; 17.4% were medium density dwellings, and 49.1% were in high density dwellings, compared with 33.4%, 24.1%, and 41.5% in the SSROC region respectively.
In 2021, a total of 91.2% of the dwellings in Bayside Council area were occupied on Census night, compared to 90.3% in SSROC region. The proportion of unoccupied dwellings was 8.7%, which is smaller compared to that found in SSROC region (9.4%).
