Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (SSROC) compared to the City of Sydney shows that there was a higher proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 4.1% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 2.7% for the City of Sydney.
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in Randwick City and the City of Sydney were:
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 85 and over (42.5% compared to 46.4%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (27.2% compared to 28.8%)
