Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (SSROC) compared to SSROC region shows that there was a similar proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 5.1% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 4.8% for SSROC region.
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in Burwood Council Area and SSROC region were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (37.0% compared to 31.5%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (23.3% compared to 18.5%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (14.2% compared to 11.8%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (50.4% compared to 48.9%)
