Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Rural East in 2021 compared to Snowy Monaro Regional Council area shows that there was a similar proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 22.0% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 6.4% were one-parent families, compared with 21.9% and 7.5% respectively for Snowy Monaro Regional Council area.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 28.0% compared to 25.3% in Snowy Monaro Regional Council area while the proportion of couples without children was 31.7% compared to 26.3% in Snowy Monaro Regional Council area.
