Dominant groups
Analysis of the highest level of schooling attained by the population in Riverina and Murray Region in 2021 compared to Regional NSW shows that there was a lower proportion of people who had left school at an early level (Year 10 or less) as well as a lower proportion of people who completed Year 12 or equivalent.
Overall, 41.1% of the population left school at Year 10 or below, and 39.3% went on to complete Year 12 or equivalent, compared with 41.7% and 43.0% respectively for Regional NSW.
The major differences between the level of schooling attained by the population in Riverina and Murray Region and Regional NSW were:
- A larger percentage of persons who completed year 11 or equivalent (10.7% compared to 7.4%)
- A larger percentage of persons who completed year 8 or below (5.6% compared to 4.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons who completed year 12 or equivalent (39.3% compared to 43.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons who completed year 10 or equivalent (26.4% compared to 28.6%)
Emerging groups
The largest changes in the level of schooling attained by the population in Riverina and Murray Region, between 2016 and 2021 were:
- Year 12 or equivalent (+8,202 persons)
- Year 10 or equivalent (+1,235 persons)
- Year 11 or equivalent (+1,150 persons)
- Year 8 or below (-941 persons)
