Division 03

Family blending

In 2021, Division 03 had 13.4% of couple families with children in step families and 6.7% in blended families.

Family blending only applies to couple families with children. Dominant groups

Analysis of the family blending in Division 03 in 2021 compared to the City of Ipswich shows that there was a higher proportion of step families as well as a higher proportion of blended families. Overall, 13.4% of total couple families with children were step families, and 6.7% were blended families, compared with 11.5% and 6.5% respectively for the City of Ipswich.

There were a similar proportion of other families and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of other families was 1.0% compared to 0.7% in the City of Ipswich while the proportion of intact families was 78.9% compared to 81.3% in the City of Ipswich.

Emerging groups

The number of couple families with children in Division 03 increased by 660 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in family blending in Division 03 between 2016 and 2021 were:

  • Intact Family (+376 couples with children)
  • Step family (+235 couples with children)
