Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Central West in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (190 people or 24.1%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (83 people or 10.5%)
  • Construction (69 people or 8.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 342 people in total or 43.3% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Golden Plains Shire employed 6.4% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 14.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 14.0% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Central West and Golden Plains Shire were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (24.1% compared to 6.4%)
