Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Orbost in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (274 people or 18.2%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (244 people or 16.2%)
  • Education and Training (153 people or 10.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 671 people in total or 44.6% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, East Gippsland Shire employed 8.4% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 16.3% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 9.0% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Orbost and East Gippsland Shire were:
