Analysis of the household/family types in Ballina (North) in 2021 compared to Ballina Shire shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 19.4% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 8.7% were one-parent families, compared with 23.3% and 10.7% respectively for Ballina Shire.
There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 30.5% compared to 26.6% in Ballina Shire while the proportion of couples without children was 34.5% compared to 29.3% in Ballina Shire.
