Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the Greek speaking resident population in Wollongong City in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (136 people or 21.7%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (98 people or 15.6%)
- Managers (95 people or 15.2%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 329 people in total or 52.5% of the employed resident population.
In comparison, Regional NSW employed 20.4% in Professionals; 13.2% in Clerical and Administrative Workers; and 16.7% in Managers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the Greek speaking population of Wollongong City and Regional NSW were:
- A larger percentage of people employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (15.6% compared to 13.2%)
- A larger percentage of people employed as Labourers (10.7% compared to 9.4%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Sales Workers (8.0% compared to 9.7%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Managers (15.2% compared to 16.7%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed Greek speakers in Wollongong City decreased by 114 between 2016 and 2021.
There were no major changes for Wollongong City between 2016 and 2021.
